201 Bishopsgate – British Land’s 800,000 sq ft office development built by Lendlease. Early on in the project Lendlease consulted Emtec to rationalise the architect’s rainscreen design for the roof top plantroom envelope.
Our involvement with a number of tall buildings at Canary Wharf lead to a design proposal based upon composite panels. Emtec was subsequently awarded the contract to design, supply and install the specialist cladding system.
Following on from the specialist cladding, another challenge presented itself. The neighbouring 35 storey Broadgate Tower overlooks the roof of 201 Bishopsgate. It followed that the architect’s vision for the roof of 201 was to create a visual feature of the plant screening and roof walkways. Emtec accomplished this goal by integrating aluminium aerofoil screening, open steel gratings and stainless steel clad timber decking walkways.
Emtec successfully installed all elements on programme and maintained a positive working relationship with Lendlease and other contractors throughout the project. The success of this project has led to repeat contracts with both Lendlease and British Land.
